Archway Insurance, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest insurance brokerages, is set to acquire New Brunswick-based brokerage Alliance Assurance at the end of this month.

Archway, headquartered in Nova Scotia, announced the move today, which will see the company expand into nine new locations in New Brunswick currently served by Alliance, one of the largest brokerages in the province.

Alliance said that no employees would lose their jobs as a result of the move, describing staff as its “most important asset,” adding that its offices will continue to operate as new locations of Archway with no major changes to staff roles and responsibilities.

“We welcome the clients and employees of Alliance Assurance into the Archway family,” Archway Vice President Gina McFetridge said. “We’re pleased to better serve communities across New Brunswick through these nine new locations where Archway did not previously hold offices.”

Alliance President Lily Durepos, who will become a senior member of the Archway management team, said that as another family run business, Archway shares a “similar philosophy towards treatment of employees and commitment to community.”

She added: “Our clients remain in good hands, dealing with the same employees they have grown to trust over the years.”

The acquisition is the latest of many for Archway, following the purchase of a number of brokerages across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in the past decade.

However, Alliance is the company’s largest single brokerage purchase.

With the new addition, effective December 31, Atlantic-owned Archway now has 20 locations across mainland Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

“As a broker, Archway is committed to offering choice and being advocates for our clients,” McFetridge added. “We believe your best insurance is an insurance broker. Insurance brokers offer consumers four distinct advantages: choice, service, professionalism and on-your-side advocacy throughout the claims process.”
