An Ontario-based cybersecurity company has been named the seventh fastest-growing Canadian information technology company by the Profit Guide.

eSentire, which was also ranked 136th overall in the PROFIT 500 list of the country’s fastest-growing companies, made the list with an impressive five-year revenue growth of 530%.

The company, which was founded in 2001, helps protect mid-sized organizations from the “evolving threat” of cyber-attacks.

The firm’s CEO, J. Paul Haynes, told Insurance Business that eSentire’s unique offering – which delivers managed threat detection and response services along with a high-touch monitoring model – sets the company apart from its competitors.

Haynes said the service’s popularity is “because it complements existing technology that our clients already have in place, ensuring that [their] assets are continually protected with end-to-end protection from new and emerging cyber threats.”

The majority of the company’s client base are financial services firms, Haynes said, but the list is diversifying.

“Business grew via word-of-mouth while organic growth within other industries (legal, healthcare, transportation, and extractive) quickly followed,” he said. “Our client base doubled over the last five years, and today we maintain a 95% client retention-rate.”

eSentire’s proven combination of people, process, and technology had helped the company grow year-on-year, Haynes said.
Speaking of the ranking, he said: “Inclusion in this list is a fine testament to eSentire’s extraordinary growth and our team’s remarkable innovation and determination,” adding that the company was honoured to be named on the list.

This year’s rankings are the 28th annual PROFIT 500 awards.
