Group Medical Services in Saskatchewan has confirmed the appointment of John Salmond as president and CEO, effective November 20.

Salmond has almost 30 years of senior sales and marketing experience, having held various roles at Manulife Financial prior to joining GMS in August 2013 as vice-president of sales and marketing.

“We completed an intense national search process to recruit the best candidate for the leadership of GMS,” GMS board chair Bill Semchuk said in a release. “John’s experience and knowledge are impressive, but it’s his passion for the business, and for the unique value of GMS as an organization, that made him our clear choice for president.”

Salmond’s appointment follows the departure of David Blodgett, who retired as president and CEO of GMS in late October.
