Zurich Canada today announced it is moving its Toronto offices from its traditional University Avenue location, where it has been since Ronald Reagan and Brian Mulroney were singing ‘When Irish Eyes Are Smiling’.

The company is today open for business in the First Canadian Place building located in the heart of the city’s financial district.

“First Canadian Place is a state-of-the-art facility that will place Zurich Canada's head office in the heart of Toronto's financial district,” said Patrick Lundy, CEO of Zurich Canada. “We look forward to remaining an active part of the Toronto community and continuing our more than 90 years of helping businesses better understand and protect themselves from risks in Canada."

According to the company, the new location will provide Zurich’s nearly 400 Toronto employees with improved technology, easier access to customers and colleagues, and more collaborative and innovative workspaces.

Zurich has signed a long-term lease with Brookfield Office Properties for more than 88,000 square feet of office space. Zurich's new offices are located on three consecutive floors within the 2.3 million square foot, 72-story First Canadian Place building.

Zurich has been at its current location at 400 University Avenue in Toronto since 1988.

First Canadian Place was constructed in 1975 but was recently renovated to provide a first-class, energy-conscious center for business. It is a certified green building with a Gold level of certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance program.
