The move to doing business online and brokers using handheld devices continues, with another insurer announcing it has launched eDocs.

The Chubb Insurance Company of Canada announced its launch of eDocs, the standard developed by the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) for transmitting documents within the insurance industry – with the aim of increasing efficiencies and saving both money and time.

“At Chubb, we seek to continually improve our brokers’ experience and embrace initiatives that make it easy to do business with us,” said Tanya Eyram, vice president of personal insurance operations at Chubb Canada. “We’re excited to partner with CSIO and support eDocs for our brokers across Canada. Sending electronic policy documents for all personal insurance lines of business will save time, money and effort through more efficient processes.”

The eDocs standard will allow Chubb to quickly transfer personal insurance policy documents directly from the company’s system to various supported broker management systems without the need for manual intervention.

CSIO data exchange standards are company neutral and help solve data compatibility issues, facilitate more efficient and seamless integration of information and improve implementation of technology solutions, says Catherine Smola, president and CEO of CSIO, with certification available to member insurance companies and vendors.

“As a company that prides itself on being a paperless organization,” says Smola, “we applaud Gore Mutual on receiving CSIO Certification for eDocs and continuing its long tradition of delivering service excellence to its broker partners.”

eDocs is the first business activity available for certification, says Smola, with plans to expand the program to cover other activities.

Since its launch, the CSIO eDocs standard has seen a significant increase in adoption across the broker channel.

To assist brokers in calculating the time and costs savings of eDocs, CSIO has developed an eDocs Savings Calculator on its website, allowing brokers to determine the daily, monthly and yearly time and costs savings gained through the adoption of eDocs.
