CTV Network may be looking up its D&O coverage policies after one of its sitcom stars was arrested on charges of voyeurism.

Jean Paul (J.P) Manoux, 45, of Los Angeles, Calif. was charged Tuesday with voyeurism after two women discovered hidden cameras in a condo they were renting.

CTV was “shocked” to learn of the arrest of an actor who appeared on its network sitcom ‘Spun Out.

According to the National Post, police said they responded to a call on Jan. 22 and spoke to two women, aged 25 and 27, who found concealed cameras and video equipment linked to the Internet.

Spun Out’ is filmed in Toronto, Ont. and police believe there may be more alleged victims, as Manoux’s condominium has been rented out to others in the past.

The arrest comes only months after the CBC had to deal with its own scandal involving the disgraced radio talk show host Jian Ghomeshi, who is currently facing seven sex assault charges and one choking charge.

Two CBC managers connected to the former host of Q have been suspended by the CBC, following a Fifth Estate episode where Executive Director of CBC Radio and Audio Chris Boyce said that CBC managers knew about the allegations against Ghomeshi as early as July 2014.

“In recent history, there have been several examples of personal activities outside of the workplace that have affected the operations and brand of a company or organization.  Whether the external activity is of a criminal nature, or one of statements or activities recorded with or without the individual’s consent — a workplace dispute can potentially happen,” Vicki Baulk, commercial account executive for Cowan Insurance Group, told Insurance Business. “A director or officer has a duty to act in the best interest of the corporation, which can sometimes conflict with the best interests of an employee who works for the corporation. These conflicts can result in a lawsuit, so a D&O policy should be purchased to protect the board for liabilities resulting from their actions, or alternately, their lack of action in a specific situation.”

Both Boyce and the Todd Spencer, the executive director of human resources, were placed on leave of absence “until further notice,” according to a statement from the corporation. (continued.)

The spate of very public falls from grace are excellent fodder for brokers looking to convince their high-asset business clients of the need for D&O coverage.

“Directors should generally be protected by way of indemnity agreements in their corporate bylaws. That’s the first line of defense,” says Ian Fraser, the national director, ProFin, RSA Insurance. “The Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance policy is the second line of defense. Not only does it provide protection for directors beyond corporate indemnification, it also provides protection for directors from instances where no indemnification is provided or available. The D&O policy is critical because it’s generally the last line of defense shielding personal wealth.”

CTV said it will work with ‘Spun Out’ producers Project 10 Productions to assist police “in any way possible in their investigation,” according to a statement on its website.

Future broadcast plans for ‘Spun Out,’ including this Sunday’s post Super Bowl sneak peek, have been indefinitely suspended, according to a statement from CTV.

Manoux’s other work includes roles on ‘Community,’ ‘Suburgatory,’ ‘Big Time Rush’ and the film ‘Scary Movie 5.’
