If you were hoping to pick up an iconic piece of property to help you live the life of James Bond, you’re too late.

Lloyd’s of London has sold the Elrod House, located in Palm Springs California, for USD$8 million. The home, designed by John Lautner, features a spectacular 60ft wide circular living room, vaulted dome ceiling and a pool that extends from indoors to outside. Retractable glass walls blur the lines between indoor and outdoor space.

The house’s supremely modern architecture famously featured in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds are Forever, starring Sean Connery. It has now been sold to Jeremy Scott, a fashion designer based in Los Angeles.

The house hasn’t always been so valuable. In 1995 it went for USD$390,000 and sold in 2003 for UDS$5.5 million. After asking prices for the property floated between UDS$10 million and UDS$14 million, primary mortgage holder of the property Lloyd’s of London has now handed it over for USD$8 million. The property was placed in escrow almost as soon as it was listed Celebrity Net Worth reports.

The 8,901-square-foot home boasts five and a half bathrooms, five bedrooms and a personal gym. The buyer will have to supply their own spy equipment.
