Insurance company RSA recently released a handbook for brokers assisting clients who have been affected by the recent Fort McMurray wildfires.

Entitled the “Fort McMurray Re-Entry Handbook,” the document contains various tips and resources helpful for those policyholders moving back into their homes following the wildfires. The insurer issued the handbooks as a way to help brokers address several of their clients’ concerns related to the catastrophe. Brokers with a copy of the handbook are encouraged to share its contents with their clients in preparation for any claims they might be filing as a result of the disaster.

The handbook offers a step-by-step guide on how policyholders can assess the damage to their properties and vehicles in relation to the Fort McMurray fires. It also contains a “re-entry checklist” that lists down important safety tips for those entering their properties after the fires.

One of the things highlighted by the handbook was that RSA’s operations have ramped up in anticipation of the increased volume of calls related to the calamity. The insurer has prepared its adjusters “with specific procedures designed to streamline the approval process.” RSA also gave its team policy and coverage determinations specific to the wildfires to help expedite the claims process.

The company reassured both brokers and clients that it “remains in constant contact with the civil authorities and the Insurance Bureau of Canada as new developments arise.”

The handbook also underscored that RSA has established an on-site presence in Fort McMurray for the convenience of its clients affected by the wildfires. The insurer’s Fort McMurray satellite location is at Perras Industrial Park, near the airport.

RSA, through its handbook, reminded brokers and clients that its claims professionals are there to provide emotional guidance and support, alongside their services. The claims professionals can also refer clients to trained counselors through the insurer’s partnership with Graham Guidance. Thanks to the partnership, clients can receive resources and guidance from the counselors at no extra charge.
