A Florida-man has filed a lawsuit against his insurer—Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada—for allegedly breaching contract.
Michael S. Adams contends that Sun Life had improperly denied his claim for disability benefits. According to the complaint, the plaintiff asserts that he became disabled back in 2014 and was initially paid disability benefits until they were unceremoniously terminated.

Adams holds Sun Life responsible because the insurer allegedly upheld its decision to deny the plaintiff’s benefits, despite what he describes as his clear disability, under the terms of the plan.
Florida Record reported that Adams is seeking all plan benefits owed, interest, all legal fees, and any other relief that the court would deem just.
This is not the first time Sun Life has been on the receiving end of a lawsuit from an American client. In October, a widow and executrix of the estate of her late husband sued Sun Life for what she deemed wrongful denial of her claim for life insurance benefits. She claimed she suffered damages from being denied payment.
