A Juno-winning folk duo is singing the praises of insurance after losing their home and banjo shop in a devastating fire.

Horsefly, B.C. residents Pharis and Jason Romero, who were temporarily dwelling in the cabin next store to their shop due to renovations on their house, were awoken by flames in the early hours of the morning. The fire, the cause of which is unknown, had engulfed their custom-made banjo business.

Their personal instruments, tools, as well as already-sold and vintage instruments were lost in the flames, along with their cabin. The damage is estimated to total a quarter of a million dollars.

While the Romeros were fortunately insured, they must now rebuild while navigating the claims and adjustment process. Currently, the couple, who have two young children, have no phone, internet, power or running water. They have since received an outpouring of support and financial assistance via PayPal donations.

"Our entire world was in that shop," Pharis said in an interview with the CBC, adding, "It's stuff - you know, both our babes are safe. And we're safe, and we'll rebuild."
